Christmas Joy Bags

Each year, through Fairhaven Children’s Home in Covington, La, “Christmas Joy Bags” are made and filled with various items that are given to the elderly in nursing homes in Romania . These simple bags make a “World of Difference” for those receiving them.

Volunteers are needed for sewing (finished bag size 17”X17”) or simply filling these bags.

Necessary items needed to fill

the Christmas Joy Bags:

Hat/Gloves/Socks/Bath towel and/or Hand towel/Wash cloth

Shampoo/Lotion/Soap/Toothpaste/Toothbrush/Holder/Comb and/or Brush/Bobbie pins/Tissues/Emory boards/Razors/Shaving cream

Note paper/Note cards/Writing tablets/Pens/Small stuffed animals

Hard candy Tootsie Pops-Rolls-Dum Dums-Mints-Blow Pops

(Please put shampoo/lotion/soap/candy in Ziploc bags)

Wish List Items:

Scarf/Kerchief/Sweater/Sweatshirt/Slippers/Lap blanket/ Flashlight and Batteries/Playing cards/Deodorant/Baby powder

Perfume/Lip gloss/Small mouthwash/Colored pencils/Sharpener/Markers Crayons/Sewing kits/Scotch tape/Paper clips/Christmas ornaments

Small knick-knack items (even things you have around the house)

Costume jewelry (again, maybe something in your jewelry box)

Objects containing a cross (necklace, bracelet, figurine, bookmark, etc.)

Of course, monetary donations are always a blessing.
