Christmas Joy Boxes
We went to a poor family in 2005 whom we decided we will feed  from now on. We knew they had two children, so we planned to take two Christmas boxes. I did not know why we ended up taking an extra box until we were leaving. As we were leaving, we heard a noise from one of the rooms. We found that they had another daughter who is about 20 but is mentally challenged. As we walked in and met her, she told us she will get beautiful things for tomorrow when she will have money. We went down to the car and we brought her the extra Christmas box. She had the biggest smile in the world and she hugged it for a few minutes. She then started kissing it and opened it. Inside, she found the doll and candy and she kept thanking us and kissing our hands. I told her she should thank Jesus, not us, and we left the room while she was happily singing "Jesus loves me this I know" and hugging all her dear belongings.
Thank You For Your Interest In Our Romanian Christmas “Joy Box” Mission Last year we sent 2,600+ “Joy Boxes” to Romanian children so they too, could enjoy the wonder of Christmas. Please use the following guidelines when making boxes: Please use a reusable (shoebox size) plastic box with a plastic lid.  Due to Romanian customs regulations, please do not wrap the box or tape it shut.

February, 2011   Thank you for your interest in our Romanian Christmas Box mission. This year we would like to send over 2,000 boxes to these special children. To prepare for the Fall 2011 shipment, we are offering suggestions to ensure every child receives a box filled to the brim with age appropriate toys and necessities. Also, each age group list will be printed separately so you can easily copy the list for distribution. Please use a plastic shoebox sized storage box with lid. Due to Romanian customs, do not wrap it, tape it shut or write on the box. Heavy duty rubber bands work well. Please include a small baggie of candies in each box. Please do not include the following items: anything previously used, clothes (except infants), toys requiring batteries, English language books, washcloths (except infants) or soap.  It is never too early to begin shopping. Now is the time of year to buy up all the gloves and hats you can find! They should be on sale and won’t be available again in stores until late September or October, often too late to include in your box. Many stores are discounting dolls and toys this time of year as a result of Christmas overstock. Also on sale are coloring books and crayons. The following is just one of the letters we received from some of those that received Christmas Boxes in 2010: “Dear Johnny,  Your delightful project of boxes for Romanian children has been the most blessed gift and the miracle of 2010’s Christmas for Rce Childrens’ Hope in Arad. We wondered and prayed for funds or gifts to offer to the children that we assist, along with their families, but nothing appeared on the horizon. Your useful, beautiful, abundant and prompt gifts made a lot of difference and we walked with joy and gratitude giving your gifts in the name of Jesus. We offered boxes and gift-bags to about 50 children and about 20 families. We gave boxes to the children with mental and motor disabilities that are in foster care and adopted by Christian families that love them like their own children. All of them, along with their siblings or new brothers joined in sharing the special presents that you, their friends in Jesus, sent them with efforts and sacrifices. Their surprise and fun opening the gifts was a retelling of the inner child story, and hope that the pictures will give you a glimpse of their happiness. May God give you peace and joy, mirrored through all the hearts that you moved with your dedication.
