Haiti Testimonial #1

Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Dear Friends,

I have been wanting to update you on the progress of the container that so many are working on for Haiti.

First, I want to share something with you-----Within a couple of days after the quake, I had several people call me and ask me if we were going to ship a container. I tried to explain to everyone that it is one thing to load a container, but quite another to be sure that it arrives at the intended destination. I knew that logistics on the other end would extremely difficult, to say the least.

Well, on Saturday, a friend suggested that we go ahead and start a list, anyway. On Saturday night, I was so tired, and just before going to bed, I thought "There will hundreds of containers shipped in--I do not have to do this!" Well, as I lay down and thought of how good it felt to have a place to just rest, I thought of the kids at the orphanage in Haiti, and of thousands of others, who were sleeping on the ground with no shelter or anything. I then prayed "Ok, Lord. If you want to ship a container, I will do my part". Just wanted to share that with you, for it is only our Lord who can work all of these things out, but He does ask that we do our part.

On Tuesday, a gentleman called me and told me that just that morning he had been praying about what he could do to help in Haiti. He then received an email from a friend of mine re the container. He called me, asked me some questions about the shipping, how we planned to move it across the Dominican Republic, and the cost. I told him that I knew the cost to the DR, but wasn't sure about the cost to get it from the port in the DR to our pastor friend in Haiti, and could only guess. He then said "I am sending you a check tomorrow, by one of my employees, for $7,500 to cover the shipping. And he did.

And many others, some of you that read this, are bringing supplies or sending donations with which to purchase supplies. On behalf of all of those that will be blessed by all of it, I want to thank you!

We have been discussing it and had decided to send pastor Jean a good, commercial Cement Mixer, if the Lord provided for it. Earlier today, I was sharing this with a couple that was visiting with me. As they left, they told me that knew some people that they would contact in regards to this need, and would pray about it. Well, a few min later, Sissie and I are in my office, and the wife, who only moments before had left with her husband, ran back into my office and said "we prayed about it!" handed me a check, and left. It was for $3000 for the mixer. I assure you that it is only as God touches hearts and people respond to His prompting, that the needs are met.

Now, I keep thinking of when I stood by my bed and said "I do not have to do this!"----and this is where we decide if we are going to get out of comfort zone and see God work, or not. I can promise you that I was not feeling like it, but I am reminded each day of God's sufficiency when He is the one we allow to orchestrate things, and are totally dependant on Him.

In case some of you may be thinking that I have forgotten about Romania, nothing could be farther from the truth. We do need to ship there also, but right now this is what God has provided for and He knows what the priorities are.

Gary Chambers, in Tatum, Tx., is constantly in touch with pastor Jean and we are trying to be careful and send things that he will not only need in the near future, but things for rebuilding and permanent shelters also. Please pray for us as we put this together. The needs list, on our webpage at Hopeforothers.org , is constantly being updated as we become aware of more needs.

Please contact us if you should have any questions.

In His Service,
Johnny
