“But Jesus said,
Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14

Something interesting has happened in my life since we moved to Romania.  I have learned what it feels like to be a child again in the sense of not knowing how to read anymore.  It is a strange feeling to not be able to read the signs on the buildings.  Also, when we buy certain things that have directions, I have to have help discovering what the directions are saying.  I’m glad to say that compared to where I was a year or two ago, I have learned a lot.

I still can’t read most things. Although it was a strange feeling at first and at times very frustrating, I am not sorry to have this experience.  Having been placed in this position has brought me to depend more on the Lord for every need in my life.  He has been faithful as my abilities have been so childlike.

It has been a blessing to see His faithfulness to me in the areas of learning to read and speak in Romanian.  He has helped me in so many other ways as well.  One of these ways is having His love in my heart for the people here.

Going to the nursing home last time with Anton was such a special time.  The children and I sang for the people, we prayed with some of them, and talked with them.  There was a love for them that hadn’t been there before.  Praise the Lord!

Another example of seeing God’s love making a difference in our lives and other people’s lives happened just last week at the train station Bible club.  A lady who lives on the street came to the club. This lady has a miserable life.  She doesn’t have much to be happy about or smile about and she usually appears very surly.  Last week at the club though, she was smiling and talking about coming back to the club.  To see her smiling face was like seeing a miracle.  I hope this lady will let God have His way in her life and let Him change her life.  I know He can change her life because He is changing my life.

It has been great learning to be grateful for things that I took for granted in the past.   For example, the simple pleasure of  taking a hot bath has shown me how blessed I am.  I learned to see this as a real treat when I saw how many people not only don’t have bathtubs, they don’t even have running water.  Others live in shacks.

So the next time you are reading something, think about what a blessing it is to know how to read.  And if the Lord puts me on your heart, please pray that I will keep learning how to read and speak in Romanian.  It’s good to be placed in the position of a child again---like a second chance of sorts in learning how to live in this life God has given me.  I know He will keep holding me and helping me to love others and care for them because He cares for them.  If you’re in a position where you feel like a child, don’t worry—-your heavenly Father will take very good care of you.

Please continue to pray for us to have God’s wisdom as we seek
to faithfully serve Him here in Romania.

We are very grateful that Spring is on its way!

And the King shall answer and say unto them,
"Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
