“Let
no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech,
conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of
those who believe.”
1 Tim 4:12
It
has been good to see God working in the lives of each of our
children here in Romania. Heidi has
written about the kindergarten where she taught English (and
learned Romanian). It was a blessing to see her take the
responsibility and prepare and learn to teach and deal with so
many different children--each of whom was so different from the
others.
Benjamin
has written about the many different things he has been doing.
And it is amazing to see the way God has so quickly gifted him
with full Romanian speaking ability. It is a blessing to see God
use him in the train station and all over the city streets. It
is funny for me to be somewhere in the city and have one or more
of the street children come up to talk.
They normally call me “Ben” or tate
lui Ben (Ben’s father). It is no longer Anton’s son, but
now it’s Ben’s
father.
Emmy Grace
Emmy
Grace is the one you don’t hear much about though and
so I want to take a few moments to talk about her a bit. Emmy
Grace has made many friends in
the courtyard. There is a wide range of ages who all play together. Emmy
Grace is often the official inviter going from apartment to
apartment or standing under windows calling to invite people to
come out and play or to meet at the park at some time for a game
of baseball, kickball or soccer. Lately these have become
evangelical outreaches where we read a story by someone like Max
Lucado to the children as we take a pousa
(break).
But the change I have
enjoyed the most is watching Emmy Grace at the train station
Bible club. She did not want to go and often stayed home. But
since the club has moved across the street she really has become
a part of the club helping
to teach Bible verses to the children and making up games and
teaching the games as an activity in the midst of the club. I
have been so blessed not only to see her change, but to see God
give her really enjoyable game ideas for the street children.
It
is easy to think about coming to a foreign country to spread the
Gospel and help the people. The reality is when you get there
God begins to change you. He has to change us---to make us
useful to Him.

Luke
18:16
“But
Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to
come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of
God.”

Thank you for your
prayers for Heidi. She had a very successful trip to the Rep. of
Moldova and will write about it in next month’s newsletter.
