Galatians 5:13—For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Hebrews 6:10—For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Dear Friends,
I apologize for taking so long to get a letter out. I could tell you that I have had “computer issues” but that would be the understatement of the year. My old computer completely deleted my main address book and we are still working on getting another one in operation, even as I write this.
However, compared to what millions of others are going through today, a computer problem is hardly worth mentioning.
Each day I pray that the Lord will allow our lives and this ministry to be a conduit of His love, compassion, and faithfulness. And, because of your prayers and contributions, He does just that. Often, I stop and consider different things going on the world today, problems people I know are having, needs around us, etc. When I do think about these things, I very often pray that the Lord will direct us and this ministry where He would have us to go and have us to do. God has given every person a special gift to be used to minister to others. Our responsibility is to ask Him to show us that gift (if we do not know what it is) and then to use it for His will.
Things are constantly changing around us today but we have to remember that our Lord is still in full control. I am always thankful and encouraged in how the Lord provides here so that we can be a channel of His love towards others.
A Feeding Ministry in a nearby town was able to help us for many years and each week I would pick up tons of food from them to be distributed in this area. A little over a year ago I noticed that they did not have nearly as much food as they had been having and I knew what to expect. They are great folks but it is taking all they receive now in order to meet the needs in their areas. This is the situation all over the United States, and also all over the world. With the economy, prices of fuel, fertilize issues for farmers, drought, and other things, we can only expect it to get worse. I am not being negative— this is simply the reality of where we are today.
We are blessed in that we still pick up food from local businesses 7 days a week and are able to help with that. And, we still receive many other supplies to give out to those in need. Please pray that these sources will continue to be able to help.
The attached photos are of an “Outreach Day” of the ministry we help in Tula, Ok. Two ministries combined their efforts and ministered to approximately 1000 people.
Also, in case any of you are interested, or may know of a ministry that would be interested, I have included a photo of some pews that a church wants to donate. These pews are in good condition. There are a total of 24 of them. 22 are 16 ft. long and 2 are 4 ft. They are located in Ogallala, Nebraska but would be worth a trip if a church is in need of some nice pews. If any of you are interested, please contact me and I will put you in touch with my friend in Ne.
As always, thank you very much for your continued prayers and support. We are well aware of the economic situation in our country and we are aware of your sacrifices in order that Fairhaven can continue to operate and minister to so many others.
In His Service,
Johnny & Sissie
