Adopt a Family – Student

The following is written by Anton Osoinach, whom, with his family, works with Hopes for Others in Arad, Romania. Anton and his family, due to their day-to-day interaction with the people, have an insight to the needs there that most of us never know:

College students:

The situation in Romania is that good students generally are allowed to go on to college without having to pay tuition, so normally there is not a need for money for the school itself. But often the school that they attend is not in the same city or village as their home, so other expenses such as apartment rental, electricity, gas, water, food and transportation are needed to continue with their education. Should you care to be a part of this, the cost would be approximately $50 to $150 per month.
High School students:

The other educational need that we encounter is high school students that travel from a village to the city (or actually move to a city to live) to attend high school, going home on the weekends. This is the situation for many in smaller villages where the school only goes up to the 8th grade. These students will often have similar expenses, although those that only commute to the school each day have lower expenses. Should you care to be a part of this, the cost would be approximately $25 to $100 per month.
