Fairhaven Update – May 24, 2014

1 Corinthians 15:58—-Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Dear Friends,

As you will see from the pictures, end of the school year has been very busy this year. Sissie and I have attended 4 graduations of our children and grandchildren–everything from Kindergarten through High School. Along with the graduations were the parties, taking the graduates out for dinner, plus Sissie working seeing to all of the ball games and practices. I think there was one night that they were playing in 4 different games. This, plus other end of school year activities–and the normal work that has to be done each day. Yet, as I think of it, and as tired as we become sometimes, I am always thinking of how blessed we all are. And then I think of how we take so many of these blessings for granted.

One of the pictures is of Jordin with his Kindergarten certificate. The picture isn’t too good but that doesn’t take away from his excitement!

As we celebrate this Memorial Day, I do hope that you will stop and think about the fact that, even as bad as things are, we are still the most blessed country on earth. Do you ever stop to think that if you live in the United States, it is only because of God’s will for your life? I am forever thinking of other countries I have visited, things I have seen, and I am constantly thankful for God’s blessings. I try to explain to the children that they are so blessed to live in this country. I stress to them that we need to thank, first of all, God, for our freedoms, and then we need to remember that freedom is not free at all, but thousands have paid the ultimate sacrifice on battlefields throughout the world that we may have the freedoms we enjoy today. It is my prayer that you will keep this in mind as you celebrate Memorial Day. We can celebrate it only because of those who have sacrificed that we can enjoy it. Please never take this for granted. The cost is beyond comprehension.
For those who fought for it, Life and Freedom have a flavor that the protected will never know.

Thank you all for your prayers, support, and encouragement. Please continue to pray that Fairhaven will be the ministry that the Lord would have it to me and bring praise, honor, and glory only to Him.

In His Service,
Johnny

Phillipians 2:4,5–Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
