Fairhaven Update-June 15, 2014
Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
Dear Friends,
As I have told you in the past, more often than not, the countries that need the help the most are the ones that are the most difficult to help due to the corruption and bureaucracy. I have had an interesting past few days in regards to trying to help in Croatia/Serbia.
We have had about $1200 to come in designated for this need, then had many cases of water, baby foods/supplies, and some other things. Then, a few days ago, a church in Texas called me and told me that they had voted to pay the entire shipping cost. (in all my years of shipping, I do not think I have ever had the shipping costs to come in before we had the contents for the container!)
So, with all of this happening, it would seem that the Lord wanted to ship a container. However, a couple of days ago, I was contacted by the missionary in Belgrade telling me that it is next to impossible to get containers into either country. Having this info, it was decided not to try to ship a container there at this time rather than take the chance on loosing the contents of it.  Churches who had offered to help will, instead, send financial aide directly to the missionaries who will then purchase food and other needed supplies for the people there. Should you desire to help in this manner, please let me know and I will send you the information re where to send your donations. The funds that have been given to us for this will be sent to the missionaries.
I am sure that the missionaries would appreciate your prayers, both for them and for the people of Serbia and Croatia. Unless you have been in this situation, you can’t imagine how overwhelming the needs are. As with disasters anywhere else, it so often opens the doors to be a witness for Jesus in many ways. Pray that the missionaries will have wisdom and discernment as they minister to those with such desperate needs, and that through it all, many will come know Him as their personal Savior.
May the Lord continue to richly bless you all.
In His Service,
Johnny
