Fairhaven Update 12-06-2016

1 Cor. 13:13—And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Dear Friends,

It is our prayer that this letter finds all of you well. Besides Sweetie’s health issues, we are all well. Naturally, the children are more excited at this time of the year. I often tell people that it is as if 440 volts is running through this whole place between Thanksgiving and Christmas! We do have so much to be thankful for though and we continually thank The Lord for His meeting of our every need. I am always thanking Him for His patience with me and for allowing us the privilege of serving. Attached, you will find a copy of our latest newsletter.

Sometimes, it is much more difficult for me to write a letter than at others. This has been one of those times. I think that yesterday I started it and deleted it 3 times. The reason is that I do not ever want these to be “just a letter”. It is my desire that first, it shares with you our Lord’s loving faithfulness, and then, in many cases, makes us all aware of just how blessed we really are. I was just reading where, just in 2016, at least 10,000 Christians were killed throughout the world. We read that figure, but actually we can never comprehend the suffering that so many are enduring in these days.

Although it isn’t in the form of persecution, there are many suffering right here in our own country this Christmas. I will not list all of the places that have had floods, storms, fires, or other catastrophes, but I will list one place that seems to have been forgotten by many. This is the area of South Louisiana in which over 80,000 homes were devastated by the floods. There are hundreds  still living in tents, their garages, or sometimes one room which they have made livable in their homes. I could list many needs but in talking with those who are there in the middle of it, right now there is a huge need for the small port-a-pottys such as those used in camping, and also electric heaters with extension cords.  Please read the attached letter from Shannon Easley in regard to the conditions in many areas.

Should you like to help with these needs, please contact me, or Shannon Easley at 225-571-5813. If you like, you can friend her on facebook at Shannon Martin Easley, and see videos she has made with individuals there (most in their 70’s).

From everyone here at Fairhaven, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. May He bless you all in a very special way as you strive to serve Him and serve others.

In His Service,

Johnny

Isaiah 9:6–For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Dear Friends,

Each year when I write this “Christmas Letter”, I am always amazed at how quickly the time passes by. Another year is gone and as I think of it, I always ask myself, “what have I accomplished in that The Lord has been glorified through me or through the ministry here?” I read somewhere that it is actually not our accomplishments that He is interested in, but our personal relationship with Him. However, if our relationship with Him is right, His will is then accomplished through us. This is a daily challenge for all of us—to keep Him in the forefront of all we do.

As we enter this Christmas season, perhaps the most hectic time of the year for many of us, we need to put forth more effort to allow Him to work through us in order that His unconditional love is manifested.

We want to thank you all for your prayers and support, and especially so many of you who have been praying for Sweetie. The feeding tube has really helped and she is now “up to” 73 pounds and slowly regaining her strength. We would appreciate your continued prayers.

We have had a full year, as usual. Besides all of the normal work/activities with the children, we’ve had Dalton and 2 grandsons graduate from Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard basic training. Also, we have shipped 3 containers this year. His working to meet the needs here, and also provide the means to help others, never ceases to amaze me.

From all of us here at Fairhaven, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

In His Service,
Johnny, Sissie, Sweetie, and Kids
