Dear Friends,
I have recently been approached about trying to help in Guatemala where the
recent volcano, Volcan de Fuego (Volcano of Fire), erupted.
At first, after reading up on the situation there, I really thought that
there was more than enough aid there. However, after speaking with some who
are in contact with those on the ground there, we have found out that they
do need all of the aid they can get—not only for the present but also for
the future for those who have lost everything. Something else that has been
brought to my attention is that much of the farm land has been lost. No
doubt this will greatly add to the difficulties there.
I very often think of all that is going in the world-not only the political
turmoil but even more those that are being persecuted and killed, often for
no reason at all. Then, I think of all of the disasters caused by nature and
of how they seem to be constantly increasing. Do you ever wonder why the
Lord allowed those of us here in the US to be so blessed? We have had our
share of disasters in the past few years but here in the States we have the
help and resources to help each other through those times. In that respect
also, we are blessed beyond measure.
Upon being made aware of the needs in Guatemala, I contacted our shipping
agent for information re shipping into that area. What we must do, after we
collect supplies, is to make a complete itemized list of what we have to
ship, then submit it to Guatemala for their approval. How long will this
take? I honestly do not know. One thing I do know though is that if God is
in it, it will all work out in His time. As I have said before—very often
the countries that need the help the worst are the most difficult to help.
At this time, there are 2 Christian ministries there that can receive the
shipment and see to its distribution once it arrives.
I am attaching a list of items which are priority needs there now. These can
either be delivered to us here at Fairhaven, or to New Life Missions, 19258

Please pray that the Lord will be glorified through whatever is accomplished
in this.
