Fairhaven Update October-7-2018

1 John 3: 10-11, 18—10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Dear Friends,

It is my prayer that this letter finds all of you well.

Since my last letter, my mom has passed away and we surely miss her. However, she was 89 and was able to take care of herself until about 5 days before the Lord took her home. We are very thankful for this. I know that many of you who knew about it were praying for us. I want to thank you for your prayers. I assure you that they were felt.

All the kids are doing great. There is always school, church, and other activities that keep everyone busy. As with any farm, or place this size, there is no shortage of work and things that need to repaired or taken care of. We are constantly trying to keep things up as the Lord makes it possible. We thank Him for His continued provisions. I am always thanking Him also for the volunteers that come out to help us. What a blessing you are!

Attached you will find pictures of the Guatemala Container being loaded here, then unloaded in Guatemala. I am not sure we have ever had the issues with a container that we had with this one. As they were taking it off of the ship in Puerto Barrios, they accidentally broke the seal off. I will not try to explain all of the problems and extra expenses this has caused. Actually, the person who has had to deal with all of this is Sofia Rodriguez, of Catalyst Resources International. Please hold her up in prayer as she continues to deal with all of this and then sees to distribution of the supplies. I assure you that most of you can’t imagine the work and frustration that she has had to deal with. I thank God for her. I also want to thank all of you who showed up here for loading that container. It was a very hot day.

You know, you just never know when/how the Lord may open a door of service. Many of you, who have known us for years, have seen the Lord (and it’s all HIM, using people) provide time and time again for needs here at Fairhaven, in our community, throughout the US, and all over the world.

A few weeks ago we had The Allen Family singing in our church. I met them, gave them a card and spoke to them only a couple of minutes. The Lord has blessed Todd and Michelle with a licensed non-profit ministry in Uganda. I simply mentioned that if perhaps we could ever help, to let me know—and they have. Attached you will find a very brief description of their ministry in Uganda, and also a needs list for it. Those of you that know me are aware that I only promise people 2 things—one, I will do all I can to help, but, two, whatever happens and is provided is strictly because the Lord makes it happen and not me. If you want, you can look at the list in case you feel that you can help them. For more info, you can visit their website at www.hopescry.com.

Thank you all, again, for your continued prayers and support. I pray the Lord’s richest blessings and His grace on each of you.

In His Service,

Johnny

Love is God’s will in action.

Phillipians 2:4,5—Look not every man on his own things, but every man on the things of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

Information on the Allen Family’s ministry in Uganda:

We’ve been working in Uganda since 2012 by partnering with a small Ugandan NGO (non-governmental organization), which is like a non-profit charity here in the US. In 2014, we built an orphanage in Uganda in partnership with that same Ugandan NGO, and since that time most of our work in Uganda has been centered around the orphanage. At the beginning of 2018, after two years of researching and praying, we applied to receive International NGO status from the government of Uganda. We had been told this process could take anywhere from 10 months to several years. But in April 2018, just 6 weeks after we applied, the Ugandan government granted us the status as an International NGO. Nothing happens that fast in the African culture, and we rejoiced at what God had done

Our permit was registered to work only in the district where the orphanage was located. However, just this month, the government of Uganda decided to lift all restrictions from our organization and gave us a permit to work countrywide in Uganda. This is almost unheard of, and once again, we knew God had made this possible.

I am telling you all of this in order to share with you the new direction God is leading us. He is expanding our ministry beyond the orphanage walls. In the northern region of Uganda, there is an unreached people group of 1,000,000 very primitive, tribal people. Less than 1% of them have become born-again believers. God has blessed our ministry with 10 acres of land on the border of this unreached people group,  in an area where there has never been a church or any other humanitarian aid organization. We believe God has opened the door wide for us to establish in this area and begin reaching these people for Christ.

Our goal by the end of this year is to raise the funding for a home for our missionaries on this new land, as well as an office for our NGO. Then we will begin plans for a Bible training center. In January we will launch programs to begin reaching out to the villagers around our property who have been affected by drought, disease, and rebel insurgencies over the past decade. We are excited about the possibilities.
