Dear Friends,
I pray that this finds all of you well. Thank the Lord, we are all doing ok.
A few minutes ago, I checked to see when I sent out the last update and the last one I could find was in June. I do not think I have ever gone so long between updates and I apologize for that, even though it has been a very busy and hectic summer.
As you can see by the pictures, Sissie and I took the kids on a trip to the Smokey Mountains and then to visit The Ark in Williamstown, Kentucky. We are thankful we could do this with them and I think everyone enjoyed the trip. I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to visit The Ark. It is truly a blessing.
Of course, recently, we had hurricane Ida to visit with us. Here at Fairhaven, we were really blessed. As you can see, it did some damage to a large Oak tree in the yard, put a couple of other trees down on fences, did a little roof damage on one of buildings, destroyed the windbreak/shed for the livestock, and tore off part of the implement shed. However, it could have been much worse. Also, we were only without power for 4 days! After Katrina we were without power for a month and you can be sure we were happy when it came back on last Thursday evening. There was a lot of damage in this area though and many will be without power for a while yet.
No matter what is happening though, the Lord is at work, using His people to bless others.
In the pictures, we are unloading a trailer full of supplies from God’s Warehouse in Morristown, Tenn. These are much needed supplies that help meet the needs of those so affected by the storm. Also, we have had shipments from World Emergency Relief, in California and those have also gone out quickly. Another blessing are the people God sends in to help those with such desperate needs. We have had the privilege of having a group from the Houston/Galveston, Texas area stay here with us while they go out and help each day. It is a blessing to have these folks here and we are very thankful for them, and hundreds of others, who are ministering to those in need here at this time. And, through it all, we see and hear of God working constantly.
The Lord has sent in food from different places and that is always being distributed. Often, Sissie and others have cooked and prepared hundreds of meals to be delivered to communities without power. There is never a shortage of work to be done around here and this has kind of multiplied all of it. However, we are always thankful for the opportunity to serve others and share the love of Jesus.
Also, we continue the regular distribution of food each week, to send loads of supplies to Native Americans, to help with the medical needs as we can, both here and abroad, and also, at this time, to help facilitate the shipping of 44,000 lbs of beans to Syria. We, with others, are also praying for 44,000 lbs of rice for Syria.
With all that the world is going through today, you and I need to constantly remind ourselves that ” the Lord has made you and I for this time”. Our responsibility is to stay open and sensitive to His will for our lives and to be a conduit of His love toward others.
