Fairhaven Update – May 18, 2023

Proverbs 19:17–One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his agood deed.

Dear Friends,

Do you ever feel that the time is moving faster than you can keep up with? I often think of how I use my time and whether or not I am being a good steward of the time the Lord gives me each day. A few days ago I was reading a devotional on “rest”. Well, it did convict me, again, regarding taking time to rest. So, I am now trying to incorporate that into my day also. Many years ago, I heard a preacher ask, in his message, “Is your life just wasting air and taking up space, or are you using what God has blessed you with in order to glorify Him and accomplish His will?” I often ask myself that question regarding my life and this ministry. We are all individually responsible for how we answer that question.

The Lord continues to bless and allow Fairhaven to be His conduit of His love and blessings to others. Recently, we were blessed to have a local couple to take a trailer load of goods to Living Hope Baptist Church in Tulsa,  Oklahoma (We are blessed to work with “I Am Able” ministries in helping with this).  This little church, with few members, has made itself available to the Lord to serve and share His love. They are involved in several local ministries and we are blessed to have a small part in helping them. I am always blessed to see people willing to get out of their comfort zones and be a blessing to others. God’s Warehouse, in Morristown, Tn., recently donated a new stove, and several pallets of clothes/supplies to this ministry. Then, the Lord supplied a Trucker friend to deliver it all at no cost. God is so good and we praise Him for His constant faithfulness.

Also, we recently had 20 pallets of food donated within 3 days and almost all of it was given out within those 3 days. This food came from Our Daily Bread feeding ministry in Hammond, La. When these things happen, I am always very thankful but never cease to be amazed at how our Lord puts it all together.

As usual, the Lord continues to use Fairhaven to minister to needs in the community almost daily. We thank Him for this privilege and for the prayers and support of so many of you who He uses to make this possible. Although we are thankful for the opportunities to help in other places, we believe that “Mission work starts at home”. We can see the local needs constantly increasing due to the condition of our economy.

I sometimes tell people that if they really want to see God work, get out and get busy serving others. God has blessed each of us with special gifts and abilities—none more important than another. You have read, through the years, of how the Lord has allowed Fairhaven the blessing of ministering everywhere from our neighborhood to halfway around the world. But I do not think that you realize that in every situation there were very many people involved and used by God making it all happen—each person doing whatever the Lord impressed on their hearts. And I ASSURE you that it happened because so many got out of their comfort zones to help. People are hurting and in need today more than ever. What do you think the Lord wants you to do?

As always, I thank all of you for your faithfulness in prayers, financial support, and often coming out to help us with the physical work. Only God knows our hearts and how much we appreciate each of you.

May the Lord bless you as only He can.

In His Service,

Johnny and Sissie

Philippians 2:4–Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Love is God’s will in action.
